Previous successful record of Vijay and Muragadoss combo with their films Katthi and Thuppaki helping this film to create huge pre release buzz on the movie. Due to this combination again fans of Vijay expecting hat-trick hit in their combo.

Sun Pictures' marketing strategies seems to working well for the movie. The production house sold out the movie theatrical rights at record number to its distributors.

According to trade reports, Sarkar Theatrical rights sold out to Rs 81 crore in Tamil Nadu alone. When we add Malayalam, Telugu and overseas rights the overall worldwide theatrical rights sold out to Rs 121 crore.

This is only theatrical rights, when we add satellite rights, dubbing rights and audio rights the total will be more than Rs 170 crore. This is the career best pre release business in Thalapathy career. His previous best was Mersal movie, which rights sold out to Rs 65 crore.

Mersal collected Rs 125 crore gross with a distributor share of Rs 71 crore and Sarkar need to cross Rs 147 crore gross to reach its break even and it would be profitable project if it reached that number.

So, it means ‘Sarkar’ Needs to create history to become a profitable venture. In Tamil Nadu Bahubali 2 grossed Rs 144 crore, it is the highest amount in Tamil Nadu till now. Sarkar need to become industry hit to consider this as a hit movie.

Vijay previous movies Bhairava and Katthi movie sold out Rs 49 crore and Rs 39 crore respectively to its distributors. Bhairava fetched Rs 42 crore and Katthi manages to collect Rs 43 crore to its distributors.
